Fox’s Early Renewals What Do They Mean For The Rest of The Lineup?
All of their current lineup has been renewed with the exception of Family Guy, Idol, Almost Human, Raising Hope, Enlisted, Rake and the yet to premiere Surviving Jack.
Family Guy and Idol are the only two that are for sure going to be renewed.
Almost Human could go either way because it did okay ratings wise given it was a new show that lead the 8pm hour but it ended already which puts it only at 13 episodes with no back nine and so so ratings which is very just cause for cancellation.
Raising Hope has hit syndication numbers and was moved to Fridays to live out the rest of it’s season before it gets cancelled in May due to poor ratings.
Enlisted also doing bad on Fridays will most likely get cancelled as well due to performing well below Fox’s comedy average.
Rake was just moved to Fridays after dismal ratings on Thursday and was replaced by Kitchen Nightmares, Idol and soon Surviving Jack, with that accounted for the show is all but cancelled already.
Surviving Jack is a period comedy that is debuting after and Idol results show at 9:30 on Thursdays. It only has 8 episodes and with stiff competition from CBS and ABC I don’t think the series will last long and will probably be canceled come May.
Ready to meet the new Mother? How I Met Your Dad has cast its star.
Actress Greta Gerwig has landed the lead role in CBS’ much-anticipated How I Met Your Mother spinoff pilot.
She’ll play Sally, who gradually reveals how met her partner in flashback. She’s described as “a female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she’s going in life. She has just figured out that she has nothing in common with her husband of less than a year. A break-up is inevitable, but Sally will find a solid circle of support in her friends and family, who are often too willing to give ‘good’ advice that can backfire badly. Meanwhile, Sally must filter out the input and decide what’s best for her.”
In some ways, Gerwig is a surprising choice given she’s best known as an indie actress and filmmaker instead of a familiar face from prime-time TV (unlike most sitcom stars who land heavily desired roles). Her previous notable TV series credit is voiceover talent for the Adult Swim show China, Il. But she co-starred with Russell Brand in the remake of Arthur and has many films to her credit, including 2010′s Greenberg and 2012′s Frances Ha, for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination for best lead actress in a comedy. She’ll also nab a producer credit on the HIMYD, which is from writer-executive producers Emily Spivey, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.
